This landmark gift will fund the construction of a cutting-edge Medical Tower and marks the beginning of a new era for the hospital, which will be renamed Koum Shaare Zedek Medical Center
(JERUSALEM-May 8, 2026) Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center announced that the hospital has been the recipient of the largest single gift to an Israeli hospital with a donation of $200 million from The Koum Family Foundation.
The historic gift will allow for the development of a new medical tower and ensure the continued growth and sustainability of Jerusalem’s most active major hospital.

The American Committee for Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem provides financial support to fund services, capital projects, research and the purchase of equipment for Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. Founded in 1902, Shaare Zedek has been known for more than a century as the Hospital with a Heart. This war is beyond anything we have ever known, and the repercussions are being felt throughout the entire Hospital. We are currently focused on ensuring we are prepared, on all levels, for an increase in terror attacks and unrest within our cities and the Jerusalem corridor. There is an immediate need to purchase equipment in the total amount of over $5 million. Our mandate has always been to respond to the medical needs of the community we are blessed to serve, and we are working tirelessly to uphold that commitment.
