What the Best-Dressed Babies in Jerusalem Are WearingMayer Fertig
Why are Jerusalem’s best-dressed babies born at Shaare Zedek? We think it’s because we welcome more babies to the world each year than any other hospital in the Western world, with a c-section rate among the world’s lowest.
Add to that, even with more than 22,400 deliveries every year in our six Maternity units, our Labor and Delivery teams know that each one should be magical. They do their best to create that experience for each expectant mother in their care, adapting to the needs of each mother while constantly monitoring and ensuring the health of her baby.
Shaare Zedek recently added a new Labor and Delivery Admissions Area. It provides a calm environment for women as their labor progresses during the early stages. Six new delivery rooms recently opened, joining twelve existing rooms that have been extensively renovated. Women in labor at Shaare Zedek may avail themselves of an array of pain management techniques including yoga (mindful thinking) and acupuncture, as well as many natural birth accessories and techniques.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Shaare Zedek is the largest and most advanced facility of its kind in Israel, with room for 72 babies. But our care for preemies begins in the delivery room. Shaare Zedek recently introduced specially-designed beds which allow for a baby requiring significant treatment to be moved from delivery room to NICU while being kept warm and receiving breathing assistance.
