Over the last couple of years, as you my dear friends know, I have taken up running.
What started as a means to lose weight, has turned now into what most of you would agree is an “un”- healthy obsession. Nary a day can go by that I don’t talk about my timing or how bad the last run was, I am certain that my children would agree, it has gotten very irritating…. Now it gets even worse, I am asking for money.
All kidding aside, the reason I initially started running, was because I had wanted to run some type of marathon in honor of my beloved nephew Yehuda Fireworker AH. However, I didn’t realize that 26.2 miles is really really far…..
Now thank GD I am at the point where I feel that I can take the rigors of 26.2 miles of running, so I am happy to announce that I will be running in the New York City Marathon on November 5, 2017 to support Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem in memory of my dear beloved nephew Refoel Yehudah Simcha Fireworker, A”H, who passed away a few short years ago.
Yehuda, was simply the life of the party. Infusing every situation with his own special brand of positive energy and “Zerizut”. Even when Yehuda was very sick, his Zerizut (which is often translated into English as “zeal” or “enthusiasm) was what continued to give our family consolation. He was a happy, smiley, cute adorable young man who ALWAYS did everything with a sense of purpose. His legacy is that he continues to inspire the best in all of us.
Shaare Zedek Medical Center treats more than 700,000 patients each year, including more than 65,000 children! The Hospital delivers more than 22,000 babies a year which is more than triple the number of babies born in most hospitals. Shaare Zedek has the #1 ranked Emergency Room in Israel, has just opened its new Neurological Unit, and is embarking on raising funds for a New Cancer Center.I plan to raise over $2,500 for Shaare Zedek by race day and I hope you will help me reach this goal.
