DR. BEN CORN-Deputy Director of the Shaare Zedek Cancer Center and Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology

Dr. Corn is a graduate of the accelerated BA/MD track at Boston University. He went on to become a Visiting Fellow in the Cancer Biology Laboratory at Harvard University after which he trained in Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania. After more than 10 years as an academic clinician in Philadelphia, Dr. Corn emigrated to Israel at the age of 36. Once in Israel, he became CEO of Keryx Biopharmaceuticals and then re-entered clinical medicine as Chairman of the Institute of Radiotherapy at Tel Aviv Medical Center (Ichilov Hospital).

In addition to his work as a cancer physician, he and his wife, Dvora, founded Life’s Door. This organization offers workshops to patients with serious illness and their families who need coping tools and emotional support. The “science of hope” has become Dr. Corn’s passion. This spring he received the Humanitarian Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) – the largest global network of Cancer Care providers.
