Hannah KatzDear Friends, Family and Supporters,

Thank you so much for visiting my Bat Mitzvah chesed project fundraising page. When I was 10, I had the opportunity to visit Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem for my sister’s Bat Mitzvah project.

While touring the pediatric ward, I learned about the unique and special therapies that the hospital provides for its young patients. All the therapies were amazing but one particular therapy stood out to me, the pet therapy. My whole life I have been obsessed with animals, particularly dogs. Though I don’t have any pets yet, hopefully I will someday! In the pet therapy room I enjoyed all of the rodents, reptiles, and birds. Pet therapy is so helpful to patients, whether to cheer them up, or to distract them from pain, a furry or scaly friend is perfect for the job! At that moment, I knew that that’s what I wanted to do as my Bat Mitzvah project, but when the world was hit by Covid-19 I knew that my project had to change.

The most important thing right now is to help the health care workers and patients affected by this terrible virus. Health care workers are superheroes. They put themselves and their families’ health on the line to keep us safe and healthy.

My new Bat Mitzvah project is to raise money for the purchase of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) gowns for the doctors and nurses at Shaare Zedek. These gowns are crucial to keep the health care workers and patients safe. Each gown is $10. Thank you so much for supporting my project and the medical staff at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.
